Frozen Few
3rd Annual "Up from the Ashes" regatta - January 19, 2014
THE THIRD ANNUAL UP FROM THE ASHES - - The Sailing School and the Edgewood Yacht Club jointly sponsor winter racing for the "Edgewood Frozen Few." This weekend COMMEMORATES the Sunday three years ago when the Rhode Island sailing community actually lifted those Edgewood FrozenFew up from the ashes of the burned-out Clubhouse.
Ice Fishing 1/5/2014
The recent cold weather brought ice to EYC for the first time in several years, creating some challenging sailing conditions. While the race committee tried to find open water to set up the course, the current gradually brought in a thin layer of ice, slowing the boats and making it nearly impossible to read the wind on the water.

A beautiful day of racing with strong winds, marred by some equipment problems. Gene was demasted in the second race by a hard gybe.

Reminder: New Year's Day Regatta
Just a reminder that the Frozen Few will hold their annual New Year's Day regatta tomorrow. The first race starts at 11:00 am, just like on Sundays.
The New Year's Day regatta is scored separately from the seasonal series, so everyone starts with a clean slate and an equal opportunity to bring home that win!
