Fading winds on 2/10
Sundays in 2013 seem to be feast or famine: either we get too much wind to stay upright, or too little to move. Today was closer to the latter, but 4 skippers managed to make their way around the course in dying winds for 4 races. Catherine came away with the day's honors for the second time this season.
Wind: NNE 2-7 knots
Air temp: 37°F
Wind chill: 33°F

RED: Frostbite racing canceled for 2/17
There will be no frostbite racing on Sunday, February 17. I went down to the club and measured gusts of 29 knots and a wind chill of 5-10° F.
I hope to see you all next Sunday.
GREEN: Weather looks good; club is accessible
I just drove down to the club, and it looks like we should be able to sail. The tide is high, the sun is bright, and there are light winds.
Narragansett Blvd has been plowed and is covered in a thin layer of packed snow. Shaw Ave is about half bare pavement and half thin layer of snow and ice. Wayne (thank you, Wayne!) has plowed enough space in the south lot for 4-5 cars.
If you don't have 4-wheel drive, you may want to park on Narragansett Blvd.
ORANGE: Weather OK but infrastructure iffy for racing tomorrow
Hello skippers,
The weather for sailing tomorrow looks fine: winds from 5-7 knots and temperatures around 26°F. The problem is that we may have trouble getting to the yacht club — and our boats — in order to sail.
Currently, all roads in Rhode Island are closed until further notice. Hopefully, the ban will be lifted by Sunday morning, but we do not know for certain. The road closings also prevent us from getting down to the club to assess the situation there. I don't know if Shaw Ave has been plowed, or what conditions are like on the hill and in the parking lot.
