Frozen Few
Orange Flag: trying for Frostbite make-up on 12/15
With 5 inches of snow on the ground, rain or sleet in the morning, and possible gusts of 26 knots, Sunday looks a little iffy for a frostbite make-up day. But forecasts are fickle, and we know you're all eager to sail, so we'll try to race on Sunday at 11. Bring a snow shovel or a broom and leave a little extra time if you can to clear off the dock and your boat.
Red flag: no frostbite racing on 12/1
Daryl just went down to the club and said there is no wind, it's 34°F and it's raining. The forecast also doesn't show the wind coming up later. Doesn't sound like fun weather for sailing, so we're calling off the races for today.
Daryl also noted that a blue and yellow sail seems to have come off the rack and needs tending to. Catherine and I will head down to the club in a bit and secure it, but if this is your rig you may want to go down yourself, or give us a call and we'll check in.
Red flag: no frostbite racing on 11/24
With whitecaps in the bay, gusts at the dock of 28 knots, and a forecast that the wind will continue to build, frostbite racing is canceled for 11/24.
I hope to see everyone next week.
One race in extremely light air
Very light wind made for extremely slow sailing. The race committee set up a course facing SE, but the real wind direction was anybody's guess. The first race took about half a hour, and the second race was called off when the fleet drifted past the end of the finish line.
