The spring series is revving up for the Frozen Few, with nine skippers participating in Sunfish racing out of Edgewood with gear borrowed from fellow sailors throughout the region. Today, the Race Committee safety boat served double duty, also clearing away a thin sheet of ice from around the docks, to get it out of range of the launching area for the fleet.

As skippers made their way to the course, skippers were surprised to find light wind from an unexpected direction and strong current. Some sailors experienced the start line receding from view, and the marks seemed to have arms to reach out and grab boats as they passed by.

Nevertheless, the Race Committee ran four challenging races. Triangle course, a Windward-Leeward, an O, and another T to finish. Breezes picked up just as racing was declared done for the day. Several skippers continued to sail after racing while the marks were being collected, just for fun.

Cookies and a crock pot of pea soup were served from the back of a pick up truck. The Frozen Few were able to warm up after sailing, tail gate party style.
