Frozen Few
Frostbiting is ON for Oct. 23, with some caveats
I just went down to the club, and conditions are … odd. The bay is very flat, there is no chop, and most of the time winds are light in the 5 – 7 knot range. Every few minutes a puff comes through, builds to about 20 knots, and then dies back down again. Since the bay is so flat, you can see the puffs coming on the water.
Columbus Day racing canceled
I'm canceling today's frostbite racing due to high winds. I was just down at the club and measured gusts over 29 knots from the north tee.
I will be at the club from 10:30 to 11 to catch anyone who shows up and accept registrations for the season. Catherine and I can also help if anyone wants help moving a Sunfish or rig.
In other news, a URI sailor named Hannah Patry would like to rent a Sunfish so she can join the fleet this season. If you have a spare Sunfish that Hannah can use, please let me know and I'll put you in touch with her.

Frostbiting starts Columbus Day (this Monday!)
I apologize for the last minute-notice, but I have finally emerged from my summer work schedule long enough to start making plans for the 2016-2017 frostbite sailing schedule.
In keeping with recent tradition, the kick-off of the season will be a Columbus Day race on October 10. The first start will be at 11 am. The season will continue on Sundays through March, with breaks for Christmas and Easter, and a special race on New Year's Day.
1 week delay for frostbite finale
On Sunday, the race committee and skippers decided to postpone the last race of the frostbite season until May 1. Dennis and I both have other obligations this weekend, and postponing the races will make our schedules easier.
I hope you can come and celebrate the close of frostbiting season with us. The first start will be at 11 am.
