Marlene's challenge to the Edgewood LEVEL 3 Sailors - hoisting a new sail
We're passing along a note from Marlene, addressed to the crew of Level-3 sailors
in the past three years . . . . .

November 24, 2015
Hi !
I'm writing through the website, because it seems easiest; although the message is very individual.
You’ve seen the posting about the "Sails Appeal" and "hoisting" five new Rhodes mainsails this coming Spring? You and I are the Level 3 sailors – sixteen of us 2013/2015 – and we'll get the first crack at the new sails in 2016.
Remember last summer? Or was it the summer before? Level 3 Sailing - how cool were we?
We learned to slow sail, sail backwards, docking (!), man-over-board (two ways), sail without a mainsail (quirky, but a great physics lesson and, sure, it could happen), sail without a rudder, and even sail without a crew ! Single-handing – what a blast ! I still can't believe all they taught us.
I'm grateful. I have truly enjoyed sailing with each of you. Excited to do it again with crisp, new sails to help us maneuver those R19s even better !
So . . . .
- Some long-time friends of the Edgewood Sailing School have already donated cash for the first sail.
- The Edgewood Youth Junior Instructors have started raising funds for the second sail.
- The third sail can be from us: $900 does it for the sail. Three of our group are already in and have contributed. They have given us a good start. We can do the rest of it if we go for about $50 each. Three in. Thirteen more of us to go.
I'm in. Are you?
Please join me and your fellow Level 3 sailors in getting the next sail for our Rhodes with our pooled donation.
See you at sea !
Happy Holidays !
Marlene
