Youth Classes - 2015
Starter Sailor
Save The Bay discovery (full day)
For our younger and/or first-time sailors, the morning will be spent learning first hand the fun of sailing. Our young new sailors will learn about boats, experience sailing with instructors and begin to develop a comfort level with boats. Following a morning of sail, the youngsters will take a boat ride to the neighboring Save The Bay Center for a fun-filled afternoon of Bay-centered activities, fostering a love of Narragansett Bay in our youngest bay-stewards, featuring, for example, bay-exploration, playing the role of lobsterman for the day, or learning about creatures of the bay!
Full day classes meet Monday through Friday 9:00 (drop-off at Edgewood Sailing School) to 4:00 pm (pick-up at Save The Bay Center, Fields Point, 100 Save The Bay Drive, Providence). Morning-only classes are available below and end at 12 noon at Edgewood Sailing School.
Note that Save the Bay requires a minimum of 6 students for their afternoon ecology program. If fewer than 6 students sign up for this session, then afternoon activities will be at the Sailing School.
This program is being run in cooperation between Edgewood Sailing School and Save The Bay, Inc. of Providence, Rhode Island.

Halloween Howl Clinic
EDGEWOOD FALL RACING CLINIC - Preparing for the Newport "Halloween Howl"
Coaching in 420s — On Saturday afternoons this fall Edgewood Sailing School is offering a race clinic for 420s. Our sailors will be refining their race technique and strategy in preparation for the Halloween Howl Regatta in Newport
Instructor Approval is required.
The clinic includes regatta support for the Halloween Howl, plus five coaching sessions on the dates listed below.
The clinic cost is $150. This includes coaching during the 5 afternoons at Edgewood, and coaching support during the regatta itself. If a sailor has her/his own race-ready 420, it may be used during the clinic and the regatta. Otherwise, Edgewood Sailing School c420s will be in use.
Coach: Charlie Plumb.
12:30 drop off and 5:00 pickup for Saturdays at Edgewood. Travel arrangements for the Regatta weekend will be worked out and announced.
This Clinic is hands-on, participants must be ready to sail in almost any weather. The schedule will be typical of clinics at this advanced level. Classroom sessions will be followed by on-the-water demonstrations, drills and coaching. Video may be used where appropriate to analyze skill builds.
On Oct 17 and 18 we will travel to Newport to participate in the HALLOWEEN HOWL REGATTA to use your sailor's new-found skills. Halloween Howl registration fees payable to Sail Newport are not included in tuition. The Howl is a well-attended regatta with sailors from all over the country.
