2020 - Closing the Youth Program

Dear Sailing School friends and families:

"You can't change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust the sails to reach your destination."

I don't think any of us will forget Summer 2020, but I do hope all the kids at Edgewood Sailing School will mostly remember all the FUN they had at Edgewood on and off the water.

It was no small task to get our program up and running this COVID-19 summer, but with the leadership of Chris Crane and the behind the scenes work from Jonathan, Rhiana, Stuart, and Catherine along with our dedicated board members, ESS quickly became a very safe and fun place for kids to be.  A special thank you to all the instructors and JIs for their diligence in making sure all the rules and guidelines were followed, for setting good examples, and for teaching sportsmanship alongside how to be amazing sailors!

We also want to thank all of the instructors, junior instructors, and other volunteers who stepped in on boat preparation, maintenance, and winterization tasks this year—the Sailing School needed that extra help, and we think everyone learned something new in the process!

Attached you will find a virtual presentation of our End of the Year Awards Ceremony. Plaque awards are presented each summer to a few of our most outstanding sailors for both sportsmanship and/or sailing ability.  Congratulations to all of this year's winners!   Hopefully we will be able to share this special night together in person next summer.

Please know that we plan to have our full program up and running again in 2021 so be on the lookout for registration emails this winter!

Happy Sailing,

Stephanie
