for adults & families – more August sailing at Edgewood

question:  How long is summer?

answer:  'Till the Rhodes come out of the water.

The Edgewood boats are definitely not coming out of the water soon.  It's been an odd season so far for weather; but last weekend was right out of the Fall sailing book – it was whopping bright light, good breeze gradually getting up over 15kts, and a modest but persistent sea.

Edgewood's relaxed and familiar "SAILING FOR FUN & PRACTICE" has picked up a loyal following this summer.  Recreational sailing nights will continue Fridays 5:30 for the rest of August.

WEDNESDAY RACING has attracted more the 15 sailors (with a bonus price-cut), for the past 3 weeks.  Another 3-week bonus series starts this week.  This racing includes practice starts, short courses and some coaching.  Open to all ESS Level 1 and above sailors and alums. Racing-qualified skippers are distributed so the boats stay pretty well matched.

A refresher and skills-building class in "SPINNAKERS !" starts Thursday August 13.  Four weeks covers all the how-to, and how-not-to, work with spinnakers. Three sailors to a boat; switching all the roles. It's immediately useful in the Wednesday racing series which will start to include spinnakers; not to mention how handy spinnakers are for getting up or down the Bay for the Picnic Sails.

PICNIC SAILS - pick up this weekend again, and continue every two weeks through September.

Adult group lessons finish a cycle at the end of August, and then one more complete LEVEL 1 and LEVEL 2 on the weekends in September (calendar).

And if that's not enough, there's also a LEVEL 3 class in the schedule starting after Labor Day, along with the return of weekend afternoon practice times, picnic sails, SUNFISH CLASSES, and the challenging NIGHT SAILING CLASS.  Also an open schedule for signing up for individual PRIVATE LESSONS with the Instructors.

You have the (ESS Level One) hat.

Time to bring your hat back home.
